what is The PSTN & ISDN Switch Off?
In 2017, Openreach announced that the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) would be phased out by December 2025. However, this deadline has since been extended to January 31, 2027.

By this new deadline, all businesses must transition to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems in order to continue making calls and to ensure compatibility with other modern communication systems. While the official cut-off date is set for 2027, Openreach has begun gradually phasing out PSTN and ISDN services across the country. This means some businesses may face disruption and be required to switch to newer technologies before the final deadline.
